A warm welcome to Owl Class. We are a very happy and caring team who learn through fun and hard work. Year 1 is a big step up for the children and our priority is to ensure that your child feels happy and safe. We aim to encourage independence and confidence as the children move on through the school. We have an exciting year ahead and are looking forward to many great learning activities and adventures.

This term we will be learning about all things that grow. We will focus particularly on the parts and needs of plants. We will be planning, planting, growing, harvesting and eating our own produce.

We will be learning about the village of Ashton Hayes and looking at how it has changed over time. We will use map skills to develop our location knowledge as well as thinking about contrasting localities and the types of plants and produce that can be grown in different parts of the world.

We will be writing for a range of purposes and reading a range of beautiful books, applying our mathematics skills accross the curriculum and getting creative building and creating art works.

Madame Pond will be leading our interactive French sessions on a Thursday morning. The children learn through a variety of exciting interactive activities.

The children will be learning in Forest School every Tuesday with Mrs Connery and Mrs Mochere. Please ensure your child is suitably wrapped up during the cold winter months.  We will be doing PE each week, usually on a Thursday. Please ensure your child has their kit each day though as there may be other physical sessions throughout the week.
