End of year

Date: 19th Jul 2017 @ 4:25pm

As we come to the end of another school year it is time to wish our current Year 6 success and happiness as they enter secondary education. We are confident that their time at Ashton Hayes will have prepared them well and given them the confidence to go forward.

It has been quite an eventful year, most importantly Ofsted arriving at the end of February, having anticipated their arrival for many months. The atmosphere in school was relaxed, organised and our pupils and staff made us proud by showcasing the school and many of the wonderful achievements they had made. The Inspector was extremely complimentary about the staff and Governors.

Governors have been involved in school life, including residential visits, day visits and school events and we would especially like to thank all of the staff for their total commitment to the school, giving their time above and beyond the school day to provide opportunities for residential visits. Several Governors have experienced residentials by travelling and staying with the children and witnessed that the teachers are prepared to be on duty 24 hours a day to look after the children, and sacrificing time away from their own families. Thank you.

The role of a Governor is strategic and we are very involved in planning for the continued success of our school. The leadership team in school are the day to day managers and report back to the Governors at their termly meetings. Part of our role as Governors is to monitor and ensure the school continues to strive for improvement and, to assist that, the Governors attend courses throughout the year. Each Governor is linked to a particular subject and is responsible for meeting/observing the teaching and reporting back to the Governing body.

If you would like to know more about us please look at the website.

Finally, once again we would like to say on behalf of the Governors a big thank you to all staff and children, especially those leaving us. We hope they take many achievements they have made and many happy memories in to their future.

Have a wonderful, safe summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in September.
