December Debrief - Merry Christmas everyone!

Date: 30th Nov 2020 @ 11:27pm

We made it! What an eventful year.

Thank you for a fantastic first term together...

This month we have been creating allsorts of Christmas crafts and really getting into the festive spirit. The children did an absolutely amazing job at learning not just one but two dances for our recorded nativity. The Sparrowhawks really engaged with our innkeeper scene and enjoyed acting and narrating. I am so proud of all of them for being brave and overcoming stage (camera) fright and delivering a brilliant performance. I don't know about you, but the recorded nativity really makes me smile, especially the Santa flash mob at the end! Well done everyone.

This month we have also been enjoying learning about our brains and how they work, following the MyHappyMind programme. They've enjoyed forest school, looking at seasonal change. We have also loved sharing lots of stories together.

In English we have been focusing on our sentence structures. We have been reading the story Troll Swap, about two characters who don't behave how other people expect and their journeys to acceptance. We created an array of writing from diaries, letters, speeech bubbles, character descriptions and alternative endings.

In Maths we have been consolidating our skills whilst focusing on subtraction and addition. Looking specifically at the concept of the inverse relationship. We have focused on -+ upto 20 to ensure this is secure before moving on to higher values. At the beginning of next term we will consolidate all skills we have learnt so far as a refresher.

In January, our topic is called 'In a Land Far Far Away'... watch this space!

Have a great Christmas everyone.

Look after yourselves and stay safe.

Hope you manage to safely spend some time with your families :)

See you all in January!
